LA CAPUCCINA

Gianluca Zanetta is the chef, proprietor, and sommelier at the resort La Capuccina in Curregio. His passion for the food and wines of Alto Piemonte were the inspiration for the resort and as he spent more and more time with the winemakers he realized that he wanted to make wines as well as sell them and bought a small parcel, 3.5ha, of Nebbiolo and Vespolina vines in the Fara DOC. His passion for the food and wine of Alto Piemonte is infectious and his desire to make great wines and promote the wines of the other producers knows no bounds. When we first agreed to taste with him, the wines of the second vintage of this young winery, we were not expecting to be so impressed. I am positive that Gianluca, La Capuccina, and Alto Piemonte are all on the way up. Production here is tiny. We will be getting 20-30cs of each wine. 2015 was his second vintage and total production less than 1600 cases.
