Le Sincette is small Demeter certified winery and farm about 500 meters from the shore of Lago di Garda. They focus on three main grapes: Groppello Gentile, Marzemino, and Barbera. It was the Groppello that initially intrigued me. I was not familiar with the grape but had heard that Andrea and Stefano were making wines worth seeking out and they are working with an old friend and colleague, Giuseppe LoCascio, so I went to investigate. I immediately loved Andrea and Stefano and soon fell in love with the wines. It turns out that Groppello is pretty awesome. The Chiaretto was fresh and balanced, but also intense, like eating strawberry skin. The Groppello was very pretty with strawberry, rhubarb, and ginseng and spices. The wines are aged in steel and concrete. You don’t farm Gropello biodynamically to make money or because you are bored. You do it because you believe in your idea and you want to share that idea. Do not sleep on Le Sincette.
