When I started talking to people about Alto Piemonte one of the names I heard most was Gilberto Boniperti. As I began talking to Gilberto, I could tell that he was thoughtful and sincere and very passionate about his area and his wines. Our first conversation in person was way more difficult than I anticipated because Gilberto speaks little English and I speak even less Italian, but I quickly realized that my initial assessment was correct and once we started tasting wines I knew I had found someone I wanted to work with for as many years as possible. All of his wines were fantastic with great acidity, freshness, and beautiful textures. Fara is still, mostly, unknown but I think Gilberto can change that. He owns 3.5ha in 4 parcels. Everything is done by hand including harvesting and removing damaged grapes on the sorting table. Alto Piemonte!!
