Las Compuertas

Las Compuertas is one of the most exciting selections of wines I have come across from Argentina that began when Pablo and Hector Durigutti purchased a 5ha Malbec vineyard of vines ranging 75-105 years old. The vineyard, sitting at 3500’ in one of the coldest parts of the region is dry-farmed organically with only native yeasts used in fermentation. Two of the wines are made entirely from vines that are 100+ years old. All wines are fermented in concrete eggs. The freshness and purity of these wines amazed me. They are truly beautiful and must be experienced to understand.
